Constitution Nov 20091. The club shall be called the “Ardeer Rifle and Pistol Club” with headquarters at Ardeer Rec, Townhead Street, Stevenston, Ayrshire and hereafter be referred to as the “Club”.2. The Club shall be affiliated to any associations which may be considered necessary by the committee. 3. The object of the Club is to encourage skill in rifle and pistol shooting by providing instruction and practice in the use of rifle and pistol to any of Her Majesty’s subjects so that they will be better fitted to serve their county in the defence of the realm in times of peril.4. The range is open for use only at the times specified in the by-laws as set by the committee.5. Ammunition used on the range should be purchased from the Club. (No Longer Applicable)6. The Club shall be managed by a Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and a Committee of six, (four to form a Quorum) who shall be elected at the Annual General meeting each year. Vacancies in the Committee occurring during the year may be filled by the Committee. The Secretary may convene Committee meetings as and when required, upon giving seven days notice.7. Application for membership shall be made to the Secretary, and Officer of Member of the Committee, Such applications shall be considered at the next meeting of the Committee. The Committee may refuse to admit any person for membership without assigning any reason.8. The following classes of membership will exist:a. Guest Member – A member who may possess a firearm and ammunition under constant personal supervision.b. Novice Member – A member who may possess a firearm under personal supervision, who would undergo a course of instruction in safety and marksmanship.c. Probationary Member – A member who may possess a firearm and ammunition under close supervision and has completed all basic courses and is continuing in an advanced course of instruction over a 6 month period whereafter full membership may be granted at the discretion of the Committee.d. Full Member – A member who has completed a 6 month probationary period and has been accepted by the Committee.e. Visiting Member – A member who must be a Full Member of a Bona-Fide Club.f. Social Member – A member who would not have access to firearms or ammunition.g. Honorary Member – A member who has been nominated by the Club Members / Officials and whose membership must be ratified at an A.G.M. The Committee may at its discretion, appoint a President for a period to be decided also at its discretion. h. Junior Member – A member of any of the above classes who is under 18.i. Affiliated Organisation Member – A member of an approved organisation with similar objectives in shooting9. The subscriptions shall be in accordance with the level determined at the A.G.M.10. The Committee may remove from the roll of members, and member whose conduct on the range occupied by the Club, or elsewhere, is unsafe, unseemingly, objectionable, calculated to bring the Club into disrepute, or who fails to comply with any rule or regulation made by the Club or Committee. Such member shall have no claim on the Club for any subscription or entrance fee paid. He may appeal against the decision of the Committee to a Special General Meeting of the Club provided that notice be given to the Secretary, within fourteen days of the receipt of notice of his or her removal from the Club.11. The Treasurer or any officer or member receiving any money on behalf of the Club shall forthwith hand the same to the Treasurer.12. The Annual General Meeting of the Club shall be held as soon as possible after the end of the preceeding year (at least fourteen days notice of such meeting shall be given to members at which the following business shall be transacted: Election of Officers (including Auditor(s)) and Committee, receive the balance sheet and report of the Committee, revise and amend the rules and regulations (if necessary) and consider any other business.13. The Auditor(s) shall examine at least once annually with the invoices and vouchers prior to the Annual General Meeting, and shall append therto a certificate to the effect that such are correct and fairly represent the expenditure and receipts of the Club, and its assets and liabilities, and they may at any time inspect any book, document or property of the Club, in the possession of any Officer or Member, and may make a report thereon in writing to the Committee.14. The Committee may pay accounts and incur any normal liabilities on behalf of the Club. The Committee and Officers are hereby indemnified by the Club against any claim in respect of any liability properly and bona-fide incurred on behalf of the Club.15. Upon the requisition in writing, duly setting out the purpose, signed by twelve Members and delivered to the Secretary, the Committee shall convene a Special General Meeting of the Club.16. Upon such a requisition being duly served and not complied with within twenty-one days, the requisitionists may themselves convene a Special General Meeting of the Club by giving fourteen days notice in writing to the Members, duly setting out the purpose for which such a meeting is called, and any resolutions passes at such meeting shall have the same force as if they were passed at a meeting convened by the Committee.17. Any Officer or Member of the Committee may be removed by a majority of two-thirds of the members present at any General Meeting, convened under rules 10, 15 and 16 and such vote may be taken by ballot.18. The Committee may make bye-laws and regulations in regard to the use of the range during club hours, and may draw up conditions of all competitions, arrange handicapping and matches. The entry fees for all such competitions must be paid before shooting in such competitions and cards must be completed by the date specified. Failure to do so entails disqualification, but relief may be granted by the Committee in exceptional circumstances.19. The bye-laws and regulations made by the Committee under rule 17 shall be published by and exhibited on the Club notice board, and thereafter have all the force and effect of Club rules, but shall be submitted for confirmation at the next Annual General Meeting.20. The Chairman of the Club and Committee shall have a casting vote in case of a tie.21. The Committee shall have the power to legislate on any point not provided for in these rules.22. The Club will at all times comply with the current firearms legislation in force.23. All the property of the Club shall be vested in the Committee for the time being.24. All shooting shall be governed by the rules of the appropriate National or International governing body for that event in question.25. In the event of the Club being wound up the property and assets of the Club shall not belong to the Members of the Club, but shall be transferred to one or more charitable organisations having objectives similar to that of the Club.
